How it started...

Since I was a child I wanted to see the world. I think one reason is because we hadn't the possibility to go somewhere when I was younger and I heard so much of other People and their great holidays. Maybe I was also influenced by TV. I can't really tell but I had such a big desire to see something new.

After years of school and starting to work I wanted this dream to become true. So I decided around 2012 to make an Europe-trip.

I thought about the countries I wanted to go and started to make some plans. At the beginning I was thinking about a roadtrip.

Then I searched for a travel-partner because I didn't know anybody who wanted to go with me or had the possibility. First it worked out! But after some meetings 2 different kind of people had to cancel it. So I was alone again but I wanted to do that trip, so I didn't care if I have to travel alone!

At the end I found a travel-partner to Iceland. We hadn't any chance to meet before the trip. We just had some phone calls and wrote mails. The first time we met were at the airport.

What brings me to the point, that I canceled my plan to drive by car because that would take way too much time. And I didn't want to lose too much time just because of driving. So I was thinking just to use public transportation. Because of that decision I thought: 'I will take planes and so on, so actually I don't have to stay on the Mainland, I can go whereever I wanna go'. So I decided to go to Iceland first, even it was wintertime. The main rason  for that was to see the northern lights!

Juliane (my travelpartner) and me arrived at the Airport of Reykjavik on 18th March 2014.

So in the end I decided to make something like a backpacking tour and I wasn't sure if I would make and manage it on my own. I told myself that I am not far away from my homecountry. So if that backpacking-tour shouldn't be my thing, I always can go back home!

But all in all I enjoyed myself  and I enjoyed the whole trip. Of ourse it was hard sometimes but nothing that wasn't able to handle.

I am really glad that I made this trip and I am really happy for the people I met. I don't wanna miss all of this experiences. I would always do it again. The nearly 3 months were one of the best times in my life. And I always look back to the stories with pleasure. :)

How was I able to do such a trip?

One point to do such a trip is of course the money....

After school I did a training (in german "Ausbildung") where I made some money and could save a part. It wasn't thaaat much but a beginning.

I still lived at my mothers. I paid something like a rent but I still could save money because it wasn't as expensive like an own appartement.

During the time of my Europe-Trip I had  a permanent employment. I talked with my teamleader and my team and they all really loved the idea and supported me. Greetings to my earlier team :)

They were ok that I wanted to have 3 monthes off. That was so nice and after years I am still thankful for that! They even gave me a parting gift. So I took my holidays and also some unpaid holidays for this time.
